Who is on your exclusion list? I'm about to auto draft and I always set up a list of players who are overrated or have a tendency to get hurt a lot. Here's my list, who would you add or subtract?
Marian Gaborik - waiting for him to get hurt (again)
Eric Staal - overrated for a 2nd pick, crap year last year
Rick Nash - crap year last year, iffy team
Tomas Vokoun - crap team in front of him
Cam Ward - crap team
Antero nittymaki - Niemi will take all his starts now
Carey Price - overrated, thi... Read More »

Truth on Savard, hard to trust a guy with concussion history and with all the trade rumors, I can't see him staying focused. Never scored more than 30 a season, is over 30, etc..
As for Staal, perhaps I should just not exclude some of these guys but rather just rank them lower on my list. That way I don't pass them up if they drop to lower rounds.... Read More »
Re: Top 10 D: 2010-2011 Edition

ACLs are harder to come back from, I'll give you that but this isn't the 80s or even the 90s. Players are coming back as or very nearly as good as before. Recently EJ in STL (double ACL & MCL), and Franzen in Detroit, come to mind. Besides I think it's a matter of the player's mentality and Markov's work ethic is top notch. MTL also has one of the best medical teams in the league.
One final point on Markov, that makes him a top 10. Yahoo ranks him so low he's a steal. By round 5 most, if not a... Read More »

Nabbing Markov in the 8th round is definitely a good deal. In the 12th round, it's borderline absurd. That doesn't make him a top 10 D-man in my view, but it potentially makes him a top-10 value.
You raise a good concern with Phaneuf being over-reliant on the PP. But I think the cause-effect is backwards. I think it's more "productive Phaneuf leads to productive PP" and not the other way around. With his ability to fire his booming slapper and hit the net with it, he's good enough to ... Read More »

Every year he puts up big goals and points...He shoots the puck a ton. The only thing that hurts him is +/- but now on a team were he will probably be +15 this year and finish top 5-10 overall on yahoo...He'll still play 20+mins this year in NJ... Read More »

What would be a good example for a trade offer to get Ilya in a keepers pool?
He's my favourite player but the owner doesn't know that so he won't try to get me to overpay.
I just want to know.. What would be some good examples of maybe a 2 for 1 or 3 for 1 deal? Or even some 3 for 2 deals. (2 being the kolvuchuk side). I just want to get a feel of what's a good offer and put my own spin on it after I see mine and his team..
It's a standard cats league except no PIM an shots instead..... Read More »

When ever I work a 2:1, 3:2, deal I look at what the other guy needs and try to include a player of the same position I'm getting back.
Ilya being a top tier LW your looking at having to offer up a couple of top 50 guys easy.
And if I was the guy with Ilya, I'd look for guys hoping to rebound from a down off season, Getzlaf, Horton, Vanek and/or young up and comers, like Stewart, Tavares, Hornqvist.... Read More »

You're right about Ryan, he's too talented to not sign or not trade somewhere.
As for Ward though, I'm personally a bit too nervous about his back and his team to count on 30+ wins, especially since I tend to rank other goaltending a lot higher on my draft lists. I'll take him off the list, but I'm ranking him a bit lower than yahoo does. If I still end up with him then it'll be a bonus.... Read More »
